I was very excited to submit my photos in this competition in which the world’s premier international wedding photographers compete and showcase their work. Being the first contest I’ve ever joined, I was very happy to have 3 photos win prominent positions in 3 different categories:

I shot this image at a Jewish wedding during the Hora portion of the evening. This photo came in at the 19th place in the Decisive Moment Category:

This photo was captured during this bride’s trash-the-dress photo session which took place about a month after her wedding. This image came in at the 11th place in the Bride Portrait category:

When I met this groom, he asked me to not take pictures of him and the ushers getting ready in the morning, and instead he wanted me to capture him and his buddies playing poker. After rearranging the furniture a little, I asked him to take his shirt off as if he was loosing his shirt. He did so gladly and the photo took on a whole new meaning. This image came in at the 3rd place in the Pure Art category:

Well, it was an honor to have my work recognized among some of the best wedding photographers and photojournalists from all over the world. I can’t wait to participate in this contest again in the near future.

It was a joy to photograph this couple on their big day and I can’t say how easy going Davide and Carla are. Even when faced with a broken down limousine, they both

kept their cool and went on like nothing out of the ordinary had happened. What’s amazing though, is right across from where their limo broke down we found this magnificent fairytale-styled royal wagon in the parking lot. As you can see we were able to get some original shots of the couple and their bridal party. All and all it was a splendid fun filled day spent with great company.

Krista and Stephen tied the knot at the beautiful “Pavillon sur le lac” at Chateau Vaudreuil which is a separate private facility located on the shores of the Lac des deux Montagnes. This was one of many weddings I covered at the Chateau this year but I am always amazed at how different every one always is. Here are some of my favorite shots from this beautiful wedding:

I had the pleasure of covering Ilana and Nick’s special day as they tied the knot at the St. Patricks Basilica located on René- Lévesque Blvd. It was my first time shooting there and I have to admit I was rather taken aback as I entered this majestic building, it is simply breathtaking inside that church.

This was my last wedding this season and looking back I have to say I’ve been very lucky with having almost no rainy days on all wedding days this year. Last Saturday was no exception. Except for all the clouds and the mildly cold temperature, it never rained once. As I always tell my clients, cloudy days are actually perfect for photography, the light is as soft as it gets.

Valerie and Charles’ wedding took place at the beautiful Le Grand Lodge hotel in Mont-Tremblant. It all started the night before the wedding with a midnight lighting-of-the-fire ceremony by the water side next to the the hotel where the wedding was to take place. They were accompanied by their friends and families who traveled from all over Quebec to be with them while they tied the knot. Here are some of my favorite photos from their special wedding:

Perhaps one of the most challenging parts of photographing a wedding day is the party at the reception hall. It’s hard enough to shoot in very low lighting, but to be able to capture the fun requires impeccable timing on the part of the photographer and technical know-how that comes from shooting for many years in these conditions. The photographer has to be able to blend in with the crowd so he/she does not intimidate the people, but he/she also need to be able to catch the right shot at the right time from the right angle and with the right light. That leaves a lot of room for missing the shot all together. Well, for me this part of the day is the most fun and I take the challenge head on and hopefully you will agree that I manage to capture the mood and energy of the party.

Of course, it helps to have a fun crowd who’s willing to let go and have a blast. Add to that a DJ who can rock the house like Andrea Guido from DJ Universal Entertainment, and you have yourself a recipe for a hick of a good time!
