Teresa and Gerry’s Wedding

Even though Teresa and Gerry both live in San Diego, California, they wanted to have their wedding here in Montreal which is where the bride is from. In fact her parent’s place, the hotel where the groom was staying, the church and wedding hall are all within 5 minutes driving distance from one another. To make it even easier, all those locations are within 5 minutes driving distance from my place. This all meant that not too much time was spent on driving that day. All and all and despite the high temperatures and what felt like %100 humidity, the wedding was a huge success.

Annie and Mark

When Mark and Annie first came to see me, Mark asked me if I could get a shot of him and his buddies playing poker during his getting ready session. I said I will see what I can do.

On their wedding day in the morning, as I arrived at Mark’s place, I noticed he had already put his suit on and was completely ready. So instead of doing the usual getting dressed shots, I decided to dedicate that portion of the day to getting him the poker shot he had asked me to do. He was very happy to oblige, and proceeded to show me to his parent’s backyard and he went to get the poker kit. I looked around and all I could see were some lawn furnitures and a large umbrella. Nothing that screams poker and no mood at all. I asked him if there was another location in the house that would be more suitable for the shot and after a quick tour of the house we ended up in the basement. I spotted a round table and some chairs, and I proceeded to redecorate the basement by getting some couched out of the way and there it was, the setting I was looking for. We turned off the lights and my assistant and I started working on the lighting. We had the guys light up some cigars to get the room smoky, but we had to put an end to that when Mark’s mom complained of the smell.

Loredana and Giulio

This couple’s wedding was so much fun that 15 hours seamed to fly by so fast I didn’t even notice. Sure it took me 3 days to recover but when I look back at the photos i think it was well worth the pain. As you can see from their photos this young couple really knows how to party. Of course it helped that my friend Andrea from andreaguido.com was their DJ. The guy can really get a crowd going all night long and he happens to be a super nice guy too!

Lisa and Frank

When it comes to leaving comments on my blog and facebook page, Lisa is probably my biggest fan. This is probably why I worked an extra 50% on her wedding. On top of my normal 150% that I give to everyone else, that is!

This lovely wedding took place at chateau vaudreuil, one of my favorite locations to shoot, and despite of the on again of again tropical style rain, the day wedding was a great success. It literally stopped raining exactly when it was appropriate and we managed to get all the shots we wanted outside without a hitch.

Frank and Lisa are also some of the easiest people to work with, so much so that I felt like I was an extension of their family from the get go. It was a real joy to shoot their wedding. They also have a subtle yet great sense of humor. I can’t help but smile as I am going through their photo doing the post processing work. Check out this shot and you’ll understand what I mean:

A huge thanks goes out to Sabrina Kordyl the wedding coordinator behind Platinum Wedding Planning, who is certainly on top of her game. She and her assistants were some of the most thorough and professional people I’ve had the pleasure to work with and they did everything possible to make the day a breaze for both the bride and groom, and for me too.

Punta Cana Wedding

I’d like to tell you that I was hired by this lovely couple from Holland, Christel and Robert, to be their destination wedding photographer. I’d like to tell you that they flew me all the way to Punta Cana and paid for my lodging at this beautiful resort, Gran Bahia Principe. The fact is I was there with my wife and kids on vacation and accidentally ran into this couple completely by chance.

While in Punta Cana, I woke up at sunrise every morning and took my camera and headed towards the beach in the hopes of catching some out of this world sun rise shots. Of course, if I saw someone on the beach at the same time, I would ask them if they would like to pose for me in front of this sunrise and so on. Well on one of those mornings as I had finished taking pictures on the beach and after walking for about an hour and almost loosing all feelings in my feet, I decided to head back to the room. On the way back I saw a couple dressed in complete wedding attire taking photos of one another on the beach with their point-and-shoot camera. I thought to myself that their wedding ceremony is probably about to start and they were there waiting for their photographer to arrive. I decided I would ask them to pose for me and then get going to the room.

It turns out that they were there on their honeymoon, and they had brought their wedding dress and suite in order to take some shots in front of the beach. I thought to myself, what are the chances of this happening? Of course they were very happy to go along with me and I ended up spending half an hour with them and I let them know that I will be blogging about this on my website and that they could see the photos there once they went back home. Here’s what Christel had to say once she saw her photos:

“As you said to us on the beach: the photos are really stunning WAUW!! Our honeymoon was great, but looking at those photos you made, makes me fall in love again and again. Beautiful! Really! Our family and friends were suprised when we showed them the photos. Most of them didn’t even now we took our wedding clothes on our honeymoon. Appreciating is still a small word. So once more: Thank you very much!”

I just love what I do!

Punta Cana “vacation” shots!

Hello everyone! As some of you already know, I’ve just returned from spending an amazing time at this 4 and half beach resort in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic: Gran Bahia Principe.

Aside from all the great weather and the fun times spent with my wife and kids, I took advantage of being there to capture some destination style photography. I think I went totally nuts with my camera as you can see and I now need a little vacation from my vacation.

I did what I love doing the most which is photographing people in love, except this time it wasn’t at the streets of Montreal, it was at the beach, baby!

Every day I went out for a couple of hours at dawn and right before sunset walking back and forth on this most amazing white fine sandy beach, asking cute couples to pose for me. Mostly I got “no-thank-you” and some “are-you-crazy” responses, but a few couples and some singles who could tell how passionate I am about photography agreed to let me take their photos which I am glad to be able to share with you here.

Sara and Stavros

This last Saturday the entire Beautifoto team (photo and video) got together in order to cover this lovely couple’s wedding. And what a fun filled day it was. In fact as you will see in the photos below, there were a lot of emotions at this rather large wedding, but fun was definitely the dominant emotion felt by all including all of us at Beautifoto.

The wedding took place at the groom’s parent’s house which was converted into a large reception space to host the almost 300 guests under a tent. They called for showers all day, but luckily for the couple the weather could not have been better and not a drop of rain, although my assistant swears he felt one drop.

The couple comes from different backgrounds – Sara’s heritage is Scottish and Stavros is both Greek and English. So as one might imagine, there were a lot of nationalities represented at this event, and some people even literally flew from all over the world to attend the wedding.

I should mention that for the first time we debuted a slide show, projected large for all the guests to see, of my favorite shots from the day. I played it during one of the few quite moments of the night, and let me tell you there weren’t many of those moments. Needless to say the projected slideshow was a huge hit and I definitely plan to add this as a permanent feature to be include in future events.

GOLF TOURNAMENT and GALA

So this last weekend I had the pleasure of covering the second annual golf tournament and dinner gala which was held at Golf St-Raphael in Ile Bizard, about an hour’s drive from downtown Montreal. This annual event held to raise funds to benefit student-bursaries at EBNDS (École Bilingue Notre-Dame de Sion), had parents compete against each other in a friendly and fun atmosphere. I should mention that EBNDS, part of a worldwide network of Notre-Dame de Sion schools is the only bilingual, independent, co-educational elementary school in Montréal.

Jerry and I drove around in those speedy golf carts and tried to cover the event in a fun and relaxed way. Here are some of those images:

Wedding Photo Album

I received Christine and Faustin’s wedding album on the same day they were supposed to pass by to pick up their thank-you cards. I decided to keep this piece of information to myself and surprise them with it.

I just love the joy and excitement of delivering the wedding album to my clients and needless to say this couple was simply ecstatic!

Engagement Session: Jennifer and Han

When we met with Jennifer we were flattered to the point of blushing to find out how much she was in love with our photography. And now after having shot her engagement session we are confident that she will be blown away with the results.

For their engagement session we took Jennifer and Han to this really nice location in the South Shore of Montreal, scouted out by Jerry who will be their official wedding photographer later on this year. Jen and Han are some of the cutest couples we shot to date and we would like to thank them for being so patient with us and for lasting through the shoot in spite of the relatively cold conditions.
